Forgotten Portraits is the new emotive and compelling album from NadNavillus. Comprised of nine tracks delivering a pastiche of rock and prog, with blues, jazz and experimental elements, the songs are composed around poems by incarcerated people or those directly affected by incarceration. Forgotten Portraits also includes a guest appearance from Glen Hansard on ‘Poesy’. The album is available now on Bandcamp and streaming platforms, with the release show and CD launch taking place at the Montrose Saloon (Chicago, IL) on the 14th of June.

About NadNavillus:
NadNavillus is a project by Chicago-based musician Dan Sullivan and Forgotten Portraits is the first release by NadNavillus since the full-length Iron Night released in 2002 on Jagjaguwar. Sullivan started composing the music for Forgotten Portraits in December 2020 and quickly found its purpose when he picked up the poetry collection “The Practice of Freedom”. Sullivan has performed with Jason Molina and Songs: Ohia, and he is a current member of the heavy prog band Arriver. 

Release Information: 
Poems were sourced from “The Practice of Freedom”, Poetry, February 2021, Volume 217, Number 5. Guest Editors: Joshua Bennett, Tara Betts, Sarah Ross. All poems used with permission by the authors.

50% of all proceeds will be donated to the Bard Prison Initiative. From their website: “BPI enrolls over 400 students in academically rigorous college programs, maintains a robust alumni network, and supports a growing field of college-in-prison programs across the country and the globe.”
